In the world of technology, the “end of life” for a device is often just the beginning of a new, more important chapter. At Highland Innovation, we believe that high-quality refurbishment (reuse) is the most effective way to combine environmental responsibility with social impact.
A Professional Approach to Charity
When Viktoria Obraztsova reached out to our company, she knew exactly why she was choosing us. Aware of our reputation in IT asset disposition and reuse, she sought a guarantee that people in Ukraine would receive not just “used” gadgets, but fully functional and safe tools.
”I turned to Highland Innovation because I knew their work stands for quality. For the center in Kolomyia, it was vital to receive technology that is reliable, wiped of old data, and ready for immediate use. I was confident that the HI team would deliver a professional-grade product,” says Viktoria Obraztsova.
The Technical Preparation Cycle
For this project, we applied our full standard preparation protocol:
Donation: We reached out to our partners at ILM Highland, who generously donated a batch of Chromebooks.
Data Wiping: Certified removal of all previous data to ensure information security.
Diagnostics & Repair: Each device underwent deep hardware testing.
Software Installation: Setup and configuration of software optimized for educational and vocational needs.
PAT Testing: Essential portable appliance testing for electrical safety on every unit.
The Power of Volunteering
It is important to highlight that this entire project — from the donation by ILM Highland and the high-tech labor of Highland Innovation engineers to the logistics provided by Highlands for Ukraine and volunteer driver Simon Cole-Hamilton — was conducted entirely on a voluntary basis.
Through this collaboration, the members of the Unified Center for Rehabilitation and Social Services of Kolomyia have gained access to the digital world. We are proud that our expertise and resources are helping to change lives for the better.
