We believe every device should end up where it can do the most good. That simple idea is the heart of ReTech, our project at Highlands Innovation CIC — and this month it led to something we’re really proud of.
A batch of powerful iMacs has found a new home at the Unified Center for Rehabilitation and Social Services in Kolomyia, Ukraine. For the people who come to the centre every day, these aren’t just computers. They’re a way to learn new skills, get creative, stay in touch with the world, and feel a little more connected to it.
Getting them there took a whole chain of kind people, each playing their part:
- The gift. Our friends at Reusing IT, and their founder Ross, donated the machines in the first place. Cheers, Ross!
- The rebuild. The ReTech team went through every iMac, refreshed the software, and made sure each one was quick, safe, and ready for its new owners.
- The journey. The team at Jeeps for Peace took care of the logistics and got everything to Kolomyia safely.
This isn’t the first time we’ve teamed up like this, and it definitely won’t be the last. Every time, it reminds us of the same thing: when good technology finds the right hands, it genuinely changes lives.
A huge thank you to everyone who made it happen — and to the wonderful people at the centre for the warmest welcome we could have hoped for. We think their smiles say it better than we ever could.
